Membership
  1. To qualify for membership in the SPI Machinery Division, you must be an SPI member and pay the Machinery Division Annual Assessment fee of $200. This assessment goes toward the funding of the Machinery Division Standards projects. The Division invoices its members in November/December.

  2. You qualify for SPI Machinery Division membership if you are a manufacturer of primary plastics processing, auxiliary processing equipment or machine components.

    • Auxiliary Processing Machinery: mold temperature heat exchange units, mold and/or machinery chillers, automatic material conveyors, robots, material heating - drying, mixing, blending or proportioning equipment, pelletizers, granulators and millers, take-off equipment, screen changers, preform stamping and finishing machinery.

    • Component Processing Equipment: screws, barrels, tips, nozzles, heater bands, and cartridges, electrical/electronic controls and assemblies, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.

    • Primary Plastics Processing: blowmolding, extrusion and injection


  3. If a foreign company has a manufacturing branch manufacturing operating in the U.S., which is a corporate entity, that branch can independently become a member of SPI and the Machinery Division. If the foreign company has a marketing location in the U.S., the foreign country manufacturer must become the member and report all sales of machinery sold to the U.S. market. Additionally, a direct employee of the foreign facility (i.e. not a manufacturer's representative) must represent the company in Division matters.
