ANSI/SPI B151.21-2003
SAFETY STANDARD FOR INJECTION BLOWMOLDING MACHINES
&
ANSI/SPI B151.15-2003
SAFETY STANDARD FOR EXTRUSION BLOWMOLDING MACHINES

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION

These 2 standards were originally published by the American National Standards Institute in 2000. Immediately after the publication of the standards a critical error in wording was identified in the Extrusion Blowmolding Standard as well as an omission of complete sections in the Injection Blowmolding Standard.

Upon recognizing these errors, the SPI withdrew both of the standards from ANSI and proceeded to correct and re-publish the standards in accordance with ANSI procedures. The two standards were subsequently approved by ANSI as corrected and re-issued in the fall of 2003.

As with all SPI machinery safety standards, a window of compliance is provided to users of the machines to bring existing installations into compliance. That window is 3 years from the approval date of the standard. Existing installations have until the fall of 2006 to be brought into compliance with the standards. Manufactures of the machines have a 1 year window to begin manufacturing machines in compliance with the standards. New machines will be manufactured in compliance with the standards in the fall of 2004.

Existing extrusion blowmolding machines should be in compliance with the 1985 version of the ANSI/SPI B151.15 standard. By October 15, 2006, existing extrusion blowmolding machines should be in compliance with ANSI/SPI B151.15-2003

Existing injection blowmolding machines should be in compliance with the 1986 version of the ANSI/SPI B151.21 standard. By July23, 2006 existing injection blowmolding machines should be in compliance with ANSI/SPI B151.21-2003
